Excel Cruz raps to inspire and through the influence of a Chicago suburban lifestyle he tells an untold story in the hip-hop industry. Excel Cruz an aspiring artist, has been rapping ever since he can remember. He first started to write and rap in the 6th grade, and as opposed to impressing that "one girl" he instead fell straight in the arms with the "craft of rapping, audio engineering and the HipHop culture." With a great head on his shoulders due the support of his family and friends he is confident to succeed in this music industry. His mom always told him to " do what you are passionate about and follow your love, the rest will follow through." His inspirations include Nas, Dr. Dre, P. Diddy, Tone Deaf, Jin and Alex Peace. Through these diverse group of artists this has lead to an open ear of different types of hip-hop music. Excel's goal is to inspire and to connect the world to each other. Through his music he hopes to be able to show people that through the many struggles we can go through we still can relate to each other. He plans on working with anyone that is "genuine and truly loves their craft, whether it be singing, rapping or playing an instrument. In working with these type of people, "something beautiful is bound to happen. Excel has performed for various venues including FACT at U of I, MAFA at UIC, FAME in St. Louis, and other places around the Midwest. He has performed with Passion, Gabe Bondoc and Jay Legaspi who are also aspiring Filipino artists. With ambitious goals and a great heart for what can happen in the future, EXCEL Cruz is nothing short of doing BIGGER and BETTER things with his love of music and hip-hop.
